Staff are amazing and very informative, started off with a talk about where to find the mosaics and the boundaries on which we can walk, as private gardens do back onto the site. It's actually quite amazing when you walk across the field to the mosaics, that you are probably walking across hidden artifacts. Kids enjoyed looking for the animal markers with their Latin names on them.

Parking, we parked on the road, no car park.
The entrance to the site is next door to a residential home a sign post does point to the entrance so you can't miss it. Steps going up to the entrance. Toilets available. Not sure if they have a wheelchair friendly access so best to call first before heading out.

Really great little museum with very knowledgeable member of staff at hand. Very dog friendly. Toilets, food.
Incredibly preserved mosaics. Well worth a visit and amble round the stunning village of Aldborough which has the most immaculate gardens.

Not much remains of the Roman walls, just a few patches of foundations, but there are a pair of incredibly well preserved mosaic floors and the small museum at the entrance gives a lot of interesting information about the history of the town. The lady working there when we visited had a lot of knowledge and insight into the history of the town and the excavations that took place.

Worth a visit if you are in the area. Superb mosaics in the grounds. Small museum with a small collection of finds. Visitors with walking difficulties may find this attraction restrictive as the grounds are steep and slippy.

Fascinating to think that the site is on just an eighth of the old Roman town, which is now under the local houses. The walk around the site is easy and along the way, you can see a few remnants of occupation, the ditches, some lovely mosaics and some artefacts in the little museum. You can do this visit in an hour but you could have a walk around the pretty village and visit the church, which includes some robbed out Roman masonry. Nearby, Boroughbridge is a lovely little market town, with independent shops, a lovely pub (which has a cafe bar) and some excellent bakeries and butchers. I would recommend buying a guide, although the information boards are helpful. There was also a Roman vegetable plot, which might interest gardeners. A delightful visit.

It was fun, but not a lot to see. I still spent a good hour there with the kids. They had a good selection of books about British history and Romans on sale.

This was an absolutely amazing find.

Loved reading about all the history that would have been there. The museum was very informative. Was so peaceful and so beautiful. The mosaics were incredible to see. What a wonderful little gem. The lady working there was also absolutely lovely.
